Student Success Statement
"When you believe you can-you can."
Dr. Maxwell Maltz
As long as you believe you can do something and put the time and effort to do it you can accomplish you goals. If you have the ambition and the will to put the effort and time in to something you would be able to accomplish it

CTW: Alex Schwazer banned for using drugs.
He was banned for doping his blood to perform better. He said he was relieved to be banned because he knew what he did was wrong  and he should be held accountable for his actions.
I think he should have never used the drugs in the first place but it is good that he came clean and admitted his use. It is important to always come clean when you do something wrong, accidental or on purpose.

CTW: Marion Jones Olympic Cheater
Marion Jones was sent to prison for 6 months for using performance enhancing drugs in the Sydney olympics  to win gold in track. She had arrogantly denied the fact for years until she admitted it.

I Think it was the wrong thing to do because using performance enhancing drugs is bad for you because it is not really making you stronger and it means that you are weak for using them. The reward isn't as satisfying if you don't work hard for it instead of getting it easy.

Student Succes Statement
"Success is dependent on effort."
-Sophocles, Greel dramatist
The statement above is stating that success is only acheived through the hard work you put in. You can't expect to suceed if you dont put in the hard work for it because you wont deserve it. For example you wont get good grades if you dont work hard for them because you get what you work for.

Jenna Huff
High School Student
wins
Extreme "Sportsmanship" award
from U.S. Olyimpic Comittee
Jenna Huff was in a cross country race with fellow competior Deb Guthman. They were both side by side but Guthman was slightly ahead. When they were racing when Deb stops after 3 miles of running because she was hurt. When Jenna sees Deb hurt she doesnt see it as advantage to win but more like a chance to help someone. Jenna stops to help Deb instead of thaking advantage. She helped Deb cross the finish line and still made her get in front to win the race. For that act of good sportsmanship she was rewarded with the "Extreme Sportsmanship Award" from the U.S. Olympic Comittee.

Reflection
I think Jenna did the right thing even though she could have passed Deb or crossed the finish line before Deb, She let  her go in fron of her to win. I Think that show good sportsmanship.

7 Habits of Highly Successful Teens
Habit 7
Part 2
Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw
3)   Heart: Always do what is right so your heart, your conscience, will feel peaceful. When you do wrong, your conscience will prick you and create regretful sensations with in your heart. When you do what you honestly feel, you won’t have any regrets. Your heart is your internal compass- it gives you direction and discernment. Just like a magnetic compass gives you directions, even true north, your personal compass, your heart, will point you in the true north, the exact directions and paths you need trod.
4)   Soul: Study scriptures and other sacred literature daily. In other words, feed your spirit because your spirit needs spiritual food just like your physical body needs temporal food to survive. Pondering, meditating, and reflecting are excellent Soul-sharpening activities. Try writing your thoughts, feelings, aspirations, concerns, and decisions in a diary or journal. Writing helps you focus and make good decisions.

Get into the habit of daily improving your body (physical fitness), your mind, your heart, and your soul.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT

Student Success Statement
“So often, our quest to be more popular and to be part of the ‘in-group,’ we lose sight of things that are far more important” –Sean Covey

It’s saying that we choose popularity and acceptance over choosing the right. That means we could mistreat friends, family, loved ones and yourself to be part of people who unlike the people who you hurt like you for who you are. Some things could be like drinking, smoking, cussing and talking back to teachers and/or parents.

"Goodness is the only investment that never fails."
Henry David Thoreau
If you invest you time in choosing the right you will never regret it because only good things come from choosing the right. If you invest time in choosing the wrong you will be given bad consequences like losing your freedom. You should always choose the right even if its not popular.

"Its is our duty to concentrate all our influence to make popular that which is sound and good, and (to make) unpopular that which is unsound (and not good)"
Joseph Smith
It is saying that we should make dangerous things like drinking alcohol and smoking unpopular. We should also make stuff like studying popular. We should make CTR popular and not CTW.

Student Success Statement

"What's right isn't always popular. Whats's popular isn't always right."

Howard Cosell
There are many thing that are popular but they are not right. That doesn't mean that we should do it because its still wrong.  We should always choose the right no matter what. For example we should not do drugs even if it is popular.

High School Graduation
Pleasure or Pain
I think it should be pleasure if you choose the right. If you choose the right you can graduate with all the credits or even with honors. If you choose the wrong you will not graduate and will feel the pain of others graduating but you. You can not go back in time to fix the problems.

"I know only what is moral is what you feel good after and what is immoral is what you feel bad after"

Ernest Hemingway

it means that making bad choices will make you feel bad and making the right choices will make you feel good. if choose the wrong you will feel the guilt and the fact that you know you did wrong and you feel the remorse of choosing the wrong. if you choose the right you will feel good about yourself and wont feel the guilt of choosing the wrong.

"My strength is as the strength of ten because my heart is pure."
Alfred, Lord Tennyson
I think it is true because your strength in character is based on your heart your heart is what makes you. If you are not pure in your heart you are weak in strength of character. If your heart is pure you are stronger than someone who's heart is not pure. If you decide to choose the right your heart is pure and you are strong in character. If you choose the wrong you are weak in character.
